Wildflowers of Millennium Park: Part 1

So I have to admit that my ability to identify my flowers is just a shadow of my knowledge of avian life, so if you have an idea of what this one is, please let me know!

  1. HI Matt!

I can't quite see the leaves which would make a difference.

It's either Dames Rocket or Silene Armeria. Dames Rocket is pretty much done and Silene is getting done. Was it pink or purple? Were the leaves green or graysish green? I think if you google these two, you might recognize for sure. Dames Rocket is the purple flower with green leaves and Silene Armeria has pink flowers with grayish green foliate.

    1. Thanks for the information. I recently went looking back through my pictures and find both pink and purple flower clusters, though the ones in this picture are the pink variety. I unfortunately didn't photograph the leaves... next time I'll think more about the whole plant.

  2. I think I can see more detail on my iPad. I think this flower is silene armeria. I've been noticing this flower near my work. I fell in love with it and bought some seeds. It's a little late to start seeds, but I'm going to give it a try.
